Detour releases new CD!

Detour released its new CD entitled Taking the Scenic Route in the spring of 2008.  The band features vocalist Carmela McDonald from Lloydminster, Rob Baron and Dennis Gerik from Vermilion and Barry Sherwood from Mannville.  The album is a mix of jazz, blues, country swing and rock that reflects the varied interests of the musicians in the band.  An evening with Detour will take you down many paths.  Their repertoire includes familiar tunes and some songs that you may not have heard in a long time.  There are songs from just about every decade since the 1920’s on the album commented Barry Sherwood.  Carmela McDonald’s voice is reminiscent of the classic jazz singers, warm and smooth and edgy when it needs to be.  Barry Sherwood's melodic and smooth acoustic guitar solos provide an interesting contrast to Rob Baron’s electric guitar work and rock vocals.  David Baron makes an appearance on the album adding colour with his jazz/rock organ motifs.

The album was recorded and produced at Concrete Cellar Audio in Vermilion and the album graphics were done by Barry Sherwood using photos taken by members of the band.  If you're looking for something a little different check out Detour and look for the CD at retailers in Lloydminster and Vermilion.
